What Exists Between Memory and Reality

Since 2021, I have been working on a long-term project focusing on the descendants of Japan’s hidden Christians. Many of the people I have interviewed belong to a generation whose memories and testimonies may be lost in the near future.

I have visited Nagasaki, where they live, to conduct interviews on site, research historical materials and produce photographs. My work is not merely about history or religion; I am interested in the relationship between memory, place and lived experience. It is a space situated between documentation and reflection, between historical records and personal experience.

I see my project as an attempt to give form to what exists between memory and reality.

記憶と現実の間に存在するもの

2021年から長期プロジェクトとして、日本のかくれキリシタンの子孫たちに焦点を当てています。私がインタビューした人々の多くは、その記憶や証言が近い将来失われてしまうかもしれない世代に属しています。

私は彼らが暮らす場所である長崎を訪れ、現地でのインタビューを行い、歴史資料を研究し、写真を制作しています。私の作品は、単なる歴史や宗教に関するものではなく、記憶、場所、そして生きた経験の関係性に興味を持っています。記録と考察の間、歴史的記録と個人的体験の間の空間です。

私のプロジェクトは、記憶と現実の間に存在するものを形にしようとする試みだと考えています。
