WALL-SCAPE
Statement:
Statement:
The work exhibited in this show is titled “Wall Scenery”, first presented in Yokohama during the 2021 pandemic. My artistic approach begins with extensive research, followed by fieldwork involving on-site interviews and subsequent editing. Through photography, I evoke the memories and surface layers of a place, particularly the historical memories of war and religion that must not be forgotten, translating them into works situated within the contemporary timeframe. I hold in mind that the history of the Holocaust (persecution) in Europe is not a distant event of the past. By employing a medium based on Western fresco paper, I seek to explore new perspectives and hope that through my work, questions may be raised concerning contemporary society.

Photographer and artist Chiaki Kano has been residing within the Unzen National Park area, continuing her artistic practice through fieldwork and research at various sites concerning hidden Christians. Based on Shūsaku Endō's essay collection “The Land of the Hidden Christians”, this exhibition presents works by Kaneno, who has focused on the memories and mental landscapes of Christianity traced by Endō during his travels in Nagasaki, expressed through photography. Accompanied by words from Endō's literature, the exhibition explores the theme of “A Journey of Thought and Vision”.

THE EXHIBITION
INTERNATIONAL VIRTUAL EXHIBITION OF CONTEMPORARY ART "A HELP" IAVA2020/ Covers artists’ creations during the global ongoing crisis due to COVID 19. Our civilization has entered a new reality, and humans are faced with an ongoing set of life challenges generating another societal paradigm interconnected to mortality, loss, death, and rebirth.
After receiving 872 proposals from visual artists from around the world, a select group of 64 professional artists living in 25 countries has been selected.
Selected artists are from Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, South Africa, Israel, UK, Bahamas, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Panama, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Chile, and the USA, among others.
The artists’ proposals fall into different aesthetic subcategories, reflecting the intensity of the subject in different expressions. From critical human representations, the self and the virus, to splashes of subjective realities, dislocated landscapes of world ecosystems, and nonobjective representations, serve as visual mixtures of the creation of the moment.
